Loess soils across the east with moderate to slow percolation, sandhills in the centre and northwest with very fast-draining sand, and clay in the southeast. Groundwater depth varies enormously.
Conventional trenches and lagoons, with lagoons still common on rural acreages. In the sandhills, excessive permeability requires attention to treatment rather than disposal capacity.
